Frequently Asked Questions

  • Genuinely, yes. South Indian cuisine does not borrow from plant-based trends it predates them by centuries. At Tinge of Turmeric, the dals, dosas, chutneys and rice dishes on the menu are not vegan by accident or adaptation. They are vegan because that is how the recipes have always been written. As a vegan restaurant in Tenerife, the food here stands on its own without needing to announce itself.

  • For the most part, yes. South Indian food is rice and lentil country, not wheat country, which makes gluten a rare ingredient rather than a staple. As a gluten-free restaurant in Tenerife, most of what we serve is naturally wheat-free by default. That said, our kitchen is a shared space. If you have coeliac disease or a serious gluten intolerance, please speak to our team before ordering so we can advise you properly.

  • At Tinge of Turmeric. Vegan food in Playa de las Américas does not get more considered than South Indian cooking done properly. Coconut chutneys ground fresh. Dals cooked low and slow until the spices bloom. Dosas crisped to order on a hot griddle. None of it contains animal products, because none of it ever needed to. Come with an appetite and leave having discovered something new.

  • It is the real thing. Gluten-free Indian food in Tenerife is not a niche request at Tinge of Turmeric — it is the natural state of the cuisine. Fermented rice and lentil batters, slow cooked lentil dishes, coconut-based chutneys and spiced vegetable preparations are all wheat-free without any modification. If you are looking for a gluten-free curry in Tenerife that tastes the way a curry should, our dals and spiced dishes are exactly that.

  • Yes. As a plant-based restaurant in Tenerife, we draw in both regular locals and visitors passing through Playa de las Américas, and the plant-based dishes hold their own against anything else on the menu. For anyone looking for a vegan Indian restaurant in Tenerife where the food is genuinely the main event, Tinge of Turmeric is the answer.

  • They do. Being a vegan-friendly restaurant in Tenerife that visitors return to is something we take seriously, because South Indian vegan food deserves to be experienced properly, not apologised for. The flavours here are bold, layered and deeply satisfying. Our team knows every dish on the menu and will steer you well. Good food and a genuine welcome are what you will find here, every time.

  • We do. We have a dedicated kids menu for children under nine, with milder, simpler dishes that little ones tend to love — served with chips or rice. South Indian food is naturally adaptable for younger palates, and our team is always happy to suggest the gentlest options on the menu. Families are very welcome here.

  • We are open from 5pm to 11pm, seven days a week, serving late lunch and dinner. We strongly recommend booking your table in advance at tingeofturmeric.com/appointments. Tables fill up, particularly during busy holiday periods, and we would much rather have you seated and eating than turned away at the door.

  • We are at Parque Santiago II, Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina, Número 32, Locals 6 and 7, Playa de las Américas, Tenerife. Parking is available within and around the complex, and several hotels in the area are close enough to walk. If you have trouble finding us, ring us on +34 822 17 67 55 and we will take you in.

  • Of course. The full menu is up at tingeofturmeric.com/menu. If you have questions about ingredients, allergens or your specific dietary needs before you visit, write to us at tingeofturmeric@gmail.com or give us a call. We are happy to help sort things out before you even walk through the door.

  • Very well. South Indian cooking leans on coconut where other cuisines reach for cream. As a dairy-free restaurant in Tenerife, a large portion of our menu contains no milk, butter or cream. The richness you taste in our dishes comes from slow cooking, quality spices and coconut, not from dairy. A few items such as raita are yogurt-based and clearly identifiable. Let our team know when you arrive and they will guide you through.
